The Top Twenty: Boys Tonight on American Idol

It's A Man's, Man's, Man's World

It's A Man's, Man's, Man's World

BLOGGING LIVE, DURING AMERICAN IDOL: Everyone seems more relaxed tonight. The vocals are better and no one is frantic.

  • Big Mike Lynche was really good , solid,  really nice.  He is the one to beat. Singing It’s A Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World (James Brown), Mike let it fly.
  • John Park was my least favorite tonight, just average, at best. I cringed when he he went flat.
  • Casey James played a great guitar, but it’s a singing competition. He could get a recording contract like Daughtry. He needs to up his vocals, to be more of a rocker.
  • Alex Lambert was SO much better, relaxed, nice song, nice vocal. What a difference.  So, the first few were so much better than last week, that each week they are going to get even better still.
  • Having been a ballet dancer, the judges really ripped him as a dancer who was singing.  He started this nice groove on Tina Turners’s “What’s love got to do with it”. Really nice  R&b version, this worked for me. Not a strong singer though. Randy is just confusing the hell out of me and the contestants. Don’t change the arrangements, do change the arrangements.yes, but you changed it to much! I am so sick of these judges. The only thing I agree with is his vocals are  just not good.  I loved the new spin on this song. I would consider doing this arrangement myself.
  • Jermaine Sellers started smooth  groovin with Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Goin On”..He is not the American Idol, but it was nice. Then again, What do I know about who the public is going to vote for!  His vocals were just ok.
  • Andrew Garcia is a pretty good singer,  I like him. The  thing is, I don’t hear any exceptional spark like with  Adam Lambert, or Ruben Studdard, or even Clay Aiken.
  • Aaron Kelly is a good stylist. Has a nice timber, but did “my Girl” He has a lot of riff’s happening, his vibrato makes me crazy. The best thing  about his voice is the raspy part of it.
  • Tim Urban reminded me of a night club singer, or folk singer. he is so cute, the girls could keep him on. However, Big Mike took the show tonight.
  • Lee Dewyze is a rocker; nice gruff voice. Best rocker this season,  but again… nothing amazing. He may have a  career as a rocker. But he won’t win this competition.

Big Mike is definately the stand out among the men. He’s got charisma. He’s got personality and he’s very likeable.

I really feel in love with the Lambert kid. He still looked nervous but I think the girls will like him. He does have a good voice too.

I loved the spins on the ‘What’s Love Got to Do with it” and “What’s going on” . I’m confused as to what the judges want too.

Didn’t particularly care for the rocker who doesn’t watch tv’s performance. Simon called it best about being in a bar and hearing that same song.

    Hope the girls do better.
