American Idol Top 10: Would you buy a concert ticket?

0

usher American Idol Top 10: Would you buy a concert ticket?I don’t know about you, but even though I never have seen one of the concerts, It would not be this year to break that record. I am excited to see “Usher” and  the theme is, R&B. I would watch tonight,  just for him. He is a great performer and I can’t wait to see what he does.

  • Siobhan chose “Through the Fire“. She has the chops, but needs the emotion. Her vocals are bad tonight; so out of tune. Never heard her like this. I think she blew it. I don’t know… nerves… something. It should have been great, she missed the mark. She has been consistent, so she may make it through to next week. Perhaps she couldn’t hear her lower register with band  blaring?
  • Casey chose Hold on I’m Coming”. Good choice for his husky voice. His voice gives me goose bumps tonight. This was a good performance. It popped, and snapped. In the pocket Casey, loved it. He connected to the audience, and the camera. It was infectious. Ellen is so annoying, it was “generic” WHAT? You’re generic Ellen. You are out of your element.
  • Big Mike met with Usher and Michael Orland {rehearsal pianist} to go through what song he chose. I really think they need help with this process, it is so important. But, they have to be on their own. He chose an India Arie song, I am not familiar with. Ready For Love”, he is playing guitar tonight. The song is a little lightweight for me. Maybe an album cut? Not when you need votes. Bad idea Mike.
  • Didi chose What Becomes of the Brokenhearted” Is it just me? I don’t get her. I thought she was terrible. Pack it up honey.
  • Tim chose a very difficultSweet Love”. A very hard song, I know, I do it. This was sweet and tender, he is not a good singer but cute as can be. As a mom, I love him, as a cute kid. But this is a competition, so back to the facts. This was a decent job, but he has no soul.  He needed coaching on this. Wish I could coach him. Let me have him one day, just one day!! (As a coach)
  • Andrew met with Usher and Michael, and chose  Chris Brown’s,“Forever”. Now we are in the groove. He elevated his status tonight. I liked him a lot!. Very, very nice. I am glad this guy showed us some of what he had at the audition.Been a long time.
  • Katie chose an Aretha Franklin song. You heard me right. Do we think someone gave her a shot of B12 and she got too confident?  Chain of Fools”, I’m watching a high school performance. She is more in tune, but “generic” to use Ellen’s phrase. She did the head bob, that was the best part.
  • Lee is lucky to follow Katie, if he can shine, we will forget about her tonight. Lee chose Treat her Like a Lady” by Cornelious Brothers and Sister Rose,   I like his raspy voice, the song was a bit country rock for me, but he sang his butt off. I think this was the best vocal tonight. He belted it out, and I felt his conviction.  He is in it to win it.
  • Crystal even wore stilleto’s tonight. She looked so pretty. She always brings it. She did “Midnight Train to Georgia” She switched to piano , Then she gets up and walks, singing pure and belting it out. A very professional performance.  She will be really big.
  • Aaron is doing Bill Withers’,Ain’t No Sunshine”, at least Usher coached him! Shaky start, he can’t hold a note with any control. Aaron just isn’t good enough to be in the top ten. It was just OK.

Well, we know who I like, I can’t see them selling any concert tickets this summer, but maybe, if you are 13 and want to see Tim, or Crystal , would be worth the price of the admission. She is the real deal, and the star of this year.

Oh, the concert ticket? I only want to see the Top 5. I’ll skip 6-10.

Marciel, over and out
